Mustafa Burmawala: As a child, I would mimic Paresh Rawal in ‘Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast’

In an interaction with Cinestaan.com, the debutant gets nostalgic about the iconic song from Mohra.

Mustafa Burmawala, who is making his acting debut with Abbas-Mustan's Machine, will be appearing in the reprised version of the cult song, ‘Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast’ along with Kiara Advani. The original featured Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon.

But as a child, Mustafa was more fascinated by actor Paresh Rawal’s cameo in the song from Mohra (1994).

Mustafa Burmawalla: Earned more as an assistant director than I do as an actor

During a media interaction, he revealed how he used to mimic the veteran actor as a child. “I was around 4-5 years old. I don’t exactly remember much about the song. But I only remember one thing — Paresh sir (Paresh Rawal) and his funky glasses. I bought those glasses and I used to roam around wearing them. So, that is the only memory I have (of that song). And I had never thought that one day I will do this song,” he said.

The debutant is obviously facing the pressure of comparisons. “There is obviously a lot of pressure. But both songs shouldn’t be compared. You can’t compare them. It is very difficult to be in Akshay sir’s shoes because he is Akshay Kumar,” he added.

Abbas-Mustan paid an unthinkable amount for ‘Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast’ rights

He also believes that the original song will always be above any rendition. “We have just recreated the song and the original will obviously be original. Nobody can touch it. We have different beats and other things to make it more modern. It’s a dream come true,” said Mustafa.

Machine’s version of ‘Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast’ will be out soon.
