Singer Suchitra Karthik, better known as simply Suchi, finds herself in the midst of a controversy after certain tweets were posted on her Twitter account.

While the singer’s husband Karthik claims that her Twitter account was hacked and there is no truth in the sensational posts that have been put up, the tweets have sent the film industry into a tizzy.

So, what was posted on Suchi’s Twitter account? Well, several private pictures and video clips, claimed to be of Tamil stars and celebrities, were posted on her Twitter account, with one of the tweets reading: Ï will definitely reveal d Real faces & back lens of d cinema industry#karma #SuchiLeaks.

The tweets mentioned that more videos and pictures would be released in the coming days.

Some of the stars whose names and pictures were used in the tweets are Dhanush, Amala Paul, Hansika Motwani, Trisha and Sanchita Shetty.

Reacting to the tweets, actress Sanchita Shetty issued a statement clarifying that the pictures that were circulating on social media were not hers. In a video which the actress tweeted, she said, “I am very much aware of what is happening from yesterday in social media. I want to clarify one thing to all my fans and all those loving me. What is circulating in social media, those pictures and photos are not mine. Thanks for your love and support.”

Even as reports emerged that Suchi’s Twitter account was being closed, more such Twitter handles began appearing.

Meanwhile, in another video post that is doing the rounds on social media, actor and theatre artiste Karthik, Suchi’s husband, issued a clarification.

In the clip, Karthik said, “…to the reports that are pouring in with respect to the Twitter updates on Suchi’s handle. The people who have been mentioned in it in a not-so-positive way have actually reached out to me, seeking and clarifying and trying to understand the situation better. I have been honest enough to tell them saying it is indicative of an emotional state and a condition that she is going through and that we are all, as a family, trying better to understand and  better to address. In the process there are some emotional outbursts that are happening which have, as you see, very little factual basis.

"All the people who have been mentioned in a not-so-positive way have been kind, understanding and patient enough to understand that this could happen to anybody and to not take it personally. I really value all of their understanding and I really value all of their love and care and I am sure if this were to happen to someone in your family I wish you would also get the same understanding and care that I am now receiving from the people who were hurt by it the most.

"There is nothing personal in all of this. It is more indicative of the condition that she is going through and I would request the members of the press not to go to town about this and not to take any of the facts mentioned there seriously because these are not facts. We should understand the situation better.“
