Recently, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt received death threats over the phone. The culprit had allegedly threatened to kill him, his wife Soni Razdan and daughter Alia Bhatt if he didn't pay up a ransom of Rs50 lakh.
The culprit was soon nabbed in Lucknow by the Mumbai Police’s Anti-Extortion Cell and the Uttar Pradesh Police’s Special Task Force.
Alia so far hadn’t reacted over the entire episode. But she has now openly spoken about the same. She said, “I would term my father and the police department as brave, because they did not give me even an iota of a chance to worry about (the issue). They just took over. Now that everything is sorted out, everybody is safe and happy. With him (Mahesh Bhatt) by my side, there is no way for me to feel scared.”
The actress was speaking at an event related to her upcoming film, Badrinath Ki Dulhania. Directed by Shashank Khaitan, she stars opposite Varun Dhawan in the film. It is all set to release on 10 March.
This is not the first time that Mahesh Bhatt has been at the receiving end of a crime. In 2006, a man had fired a bullet on the ground inside his office. He was a member of a gang that was arrested soon.
