Vidyut Jammwal’s action thriller, Commando 2: The Black Money Trail earned Rs4 crore on its first day, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com. It is the sequel to Commando: A One Man Army (2013).
Although the opening isn’t great by any means, considering the film has no big stars and the day was a working day, the number is decent. Plus, the film is reportedly made at a budget of Rs20 crore.
Therefore, if the collections see an increase during the weekend, Commando 2 will stand a good chance of surpassing its cost in a week. But if the weekend sees a downward trend the film will find it hard to recover its investment.
According to BoxOfficeIndia.com, the collections were poor in big metros like Mumbai and Delhi, which is a worry factor. The film is also dubbed in Tamil and Telugu but both versions fared poorly by earning only around Rs5-10 lakh.
Commando 2 marks the directorial debut of actor Deven Bhojani. The first film was helmed by Dilip Ghosh.
The week also saw the release of Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai and Luv Shuv Pyar Vyar. The collections of both films are too negligible to report.
