Yash Raj Films unveiled the teaser of Meri Pyaari Bindu which gives an idea as to what prompted Abhimanyu Roy to pen a pulp fiction book. We had seen the 'Chudail Ki Choli' book in his hand on the poster which was released yesterday.
Ayushmann Khurrana plays writer Abhimanyu Roy, while Parineeti Chopra is his Bindu. There’s more to Meri Pyaari Bindu than meets the eye.
For the best part of the nearly two-minute teaser, director Akshay Roy makes you believe it could be a classic love story between Bindu and Abhimanyu. The film is based in Kolkata.
The makers have cleverly used the classic Mohammed Rafi, Asha Bhosle song 'Abhi Na Jao Chodkar' from the film Hum Dono (1961) to blend with a montage of Bindu’s joyful moments.
Abhimanyu and Bindu have recorded classic songs, which are actually memories related to their lives on a cassette. The poet is waxing lyrical of his beloved, giving you the feeling that this will be a classic romantic ride until Abhimanyu cries, “Isi pyaar main uske saath bhatakte, latakte, sambhalte, chalte chalte, maine apni choti si zindagi ki VAAT LAGA DI” (This love and its lovely moments screwed my dear life).
Abhimanyu wears a staid look and gives some food of thought too: "Pyaar karna bahot log sikhate hain par afsos uss pyaar ko bhulate kaise hain, yeh salaa koi nahi sikhata." (Many people teach you how to fall in love, but no one teaches you how to forget that love). This line alone could strike a chord with the many broken-hearted people across the world.
Chopra as Bindu is her bubbly self, and steals the show with her rendition of 'Abhi Na Jao Chodkar'. She has also sung 'Maana Ke Hum Yaar Nahin' for the film.
The teaser ends with a promise that chapter one of the story will be out on 3 April. That perhaps would be the day when the trailer is revealed. The film is set to be released on 12 May.
