Amit Masurkar's Newton has been shaking up the international festival circuit this year. After winning CICAE Art Cinema prize at the Berlinale Film Festival, the film is now set to premiere at the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival in New York. A new clip of the film, created exclusively for the festival has now appeared on the international online review forum, IndieWire.
The clip features Rajkummar Rao and Pankaj Tripathi along with their group of electoral officers travelling through the jungles in the line of their duty.
The film focusses on the trials faced by the officials trying to conduct an election in the remote jungles under the threat of Naxalism. Written by the Sulemani Keeda (2014) duo of Mayank Tewari and Amit Masurkar, the film has the touch of satire and black humour that makes it an interesting watch. In addition, there is also the presence of Rao, who seems to be riding high after the critical appreciation of his role in Vikramaditya Motwane's Trapped (2017).
The film will be screened at Tribeca between 24-27 April.
Newton is produced by Drishyam Films and also stars Raghubir Yadav and Anjali Patil, among others.
