While the next generation of stars are taking to the internet to publicise their films, there is a whole different method with which the previous generation is approaching it. Jackie Shroff and Neena Gupta are set to come together in a short film, Khujli, on April Fool's Day. The short is part of the popular Terribly Tiny Talkies project and will be directed by Sonam Nair. Nair last directed the popular Gippi (2013).
Terribly Tiny Talkies (TTT) is a YouTube channel that brings together filmmakers and actors to work on short films centred around the theme of issues left unsaid in 25 years of marriage. The film is one of the several short films that will be released on the channel in the coming days.
In a statement, Shroff said, "Khujli is a light-hearted film. I loved the story and the way Sonam Nair (director) narrated it. I really enjoyed working with the team of TTT."
This will be the first short film for actress Gupta as well. The combination of two extremely talented actors and a very intriguing plot makes Khujli an interesting short to watch out for.
Terribly Tiny Talkies have previously released several shorts, including the recent Kheer with Anupam Kher, which caught the attention of audiences on the internet.
A brainchild of Chintan Ruparel, the channel is a branch of the viral Terribly Tiny Tales which have taken over Facebook in recent times.
Speaking to the Indian Express newspaper on the experience, Gupta said, "Shooting for Khujli was as much fun as reading its script. When actors have enjoyed the process of doing the film so much, I am sure the audience would enjoy it too. It was a great experience."
Sharanya Rajgopa, chief writer and creative producer at TTT, said of the film, "The monotony of a middle-aged couple’s life taking a risqué turn is what drew us in. The entire process of making this film has been a riot. Think about it, it could happen to any couple around us behind closed doors."
