Mark the date. Friday 11 August 2017 is when Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar will begin their Swachch Azaadi movement. For that is the day their sanitary love story, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, will hit the theatres.
From the time the film was announced, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha has been making waves for its innovative out-of-the-closet concept. Akshay Kumar and the makers unveiled the first official poster of the film on Thursday.

Akshay Kumar’s tweet made it amply clear that this unusual love story aims to initiate a Swachch Azaadi movement on the weekend prior to Independence Day.
Pednekar looks gorgeous in bridal dress while Akshay Kumar's character appears a wee bit disgruntled. Don’t be fooled by Pednekar’s bridal wear and Akshay Kumar’s groom outfit and turban, however. The larger purpose is to brace people for Swachch Azaadi.
It is well documented that the film aims to throw light on the shortage of toilets, especially for women, in India. Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, the film is based on the Swachch Bharat Abhiyan initiated by prime minister Narendra Modi. The story is by Garima Wahal and Siddharth Singh, the duo who had written Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (2013).
