There's no debate over the music of Phillauri which is refreshing and soothing, even though the film has its flaws.
Keeping up with a recent trend, Phillauri makers have released a track days after the film's release. Those who’ve watched the film will be familiar with the visuals and the track that played briefly in the film.
'Din Shagna Da' is a soulful Punjabi wedding song wherein a bride urges the bridesmaids to gather around and welcome her groom.
Music speaks a universal language, and listeners mustn't fuss over the meaning of the lyrics. The visuals speak volumes and what you hear is like a balm to the ears. The credit goes to lyricist Neeraj Rajawat who has penned a heartfelt number.
Singer Jasleen Royal had shot to fame with 'Nachde Ne Saare' from Baar Baar Dekho (2016). Be it 'Nachde Ne Saare' or 'Din Shagna Da', Royal's innocent, baby-like voice stays with you. Her voice reflects both joy and grief that a bride experiences on her wedding day, before leaving her maternal home for a new life.
Early in her career, Royal has got a chance to display her singing talent with this song. She is also the music director on 'Din Shagna Da'. Royal employs melodies of a piano, kamaicha and guitar to compose a perfectly soulful, contemporary soft romantic number.
The unparalleled beauty of Anushka Sharma and Mehreen Pirzada add splendour to the song. If Royal is the soothing voice of the track, then Sharma and Pirzada are its soul, displaying varied emotions. In the film, Shashi (Sharma) is a reticent bride from the 1900s, and Anu (Pirzada) is a new-age bubbly Punjabi bride.
All said and done, if you haven’t watched Phillauri yet then this track might just draw you to the film.
