Anushka Sharma's turn as the friendly ghost in Phillauri has not impressed audiences all that much. The film managed a low score of Rs3.75 crore approximate at the box office at the end of its first day.

The film was received positively in the regions of Punjab and Delhi, but failed to get the footfalls in other Indian cities. The returns for the film were lower in cities like Mumbai and Kolkata, in comparison to Anushka's last production, NH10 (2015). The figures are as shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com

The presence of Diljit Dosanjh has helped raise the profile of the film in the Punjab and Delhi regions. In fact, the collections of the film have preceded those of bigger productions like Shivaay, Rangoon and Kaabil in these regions.

The collections of the film in the north is a good omen, as it is likely to improve over the weekend. Meanwhile, the collection in metros like Mumbai is expected to stay below Rs1 crore nett. However, the film desperately needs at least an increase of 40% to consider an improved weekend.

The only other competition to Phillauri, Swara Bhaskar-starrer, Anaarkali of Aarah, seems to have failed to take off on its first day. The collections for the film were extremely limited.

Meanwhile, Badrinath Ki Dulhania continued to get some returns on its third Friday at the box office. The film managed Rs1.25 crore nett, which takes its total lifetime earnings to Rs99.25 crore nett. The Varun Dhawan-Alia Bhatt film is set to become the second highest earning film of the year so far, at this rate.75
