Sanjay Dutt and Aamir Khan are close friends. This friendship though would have been tested had the duo gone ahead with their box-office clash this August. Dutt’s comeback film Bhoomi was slated to compete with Aamir Khan productions’ Secret Superstar. However, as per reports, Sanjay Dutt has chosen to step as he back as he doesn’t want to upset Aamir Khan and thus requested his producers to avert the box office clash.

“I know the kind of hard work and effort that goes into making a film. I believe, after all the work being put in, it can't be reduced to a clash at the box office. Aamir is a dear friend and I wouldn't want my comeback film to be pitted against his. In this industry, we should all make an effort to help each other," Dutt told Mid-day.

Confirming the same, Sandeep Singh, one of the producers told Pinkvilla.com, “Aamir is launching his friend as a director and the film is good and has a nice message which needs to spread, so we shouldn't clash. By clashing we will only harm each other. It is better we move from August 4. He feels we should support each other instead of cutting each other. And media also blows things out of proportion. They love to create clashes between the stars. We all mutually agreed on it and the new dates are being worked up.”

Secret Superstar, starring Zaira Wasim, is directed by Khan’s former manager Advait Chandan. Dutt’s comeback film is directed by Omung Kumar. Secret Superstar is set to be released on 4 August.
