2.0 star Rajinikanth will take part in an event in Sri Lanka to donate 150 houses to Tamils displaced in the Sri Lankan civil war.

Anything Akshay Kumar can do, Rajinikanth can do better. The Tamil superstar, known for his charitable work, is set to donate 150 houses to displaced Tamils in Sri Lanka. The houses have been built by the Gnanam Trust, which is owned by Lyca productions. Lyca is also producing Rajinikanth's next film, 2.0.
The event is set to take place in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, on 9 April. The Gnanam trust has previously built the houses in Chinna Tamban village and Puliyankulam in Sri Lanka. The trust is also named after Gnanambigai, mother of Subaskaran Allirajah, founder and chairman of Lyca Productions. Sources suggest that Rajinikanth agreed to the request immediately since it was for a good cause.
A well known philanthropist, Rajinikanth often donates half of his income from films to charities. After the recent floods in Chennai, he donated Rs 10 crore to the government relief funds.
Several top dignitaries of Sri Lanka including the chief minister of north Sri Lanka, C V Vigneshwaran, are expected to take part in the event. However, it is not known if director Shankar and actress Amy Jackson or any other member from the cast of the film 2.0 will accompany Rajinikanth to the event.
