Sonakshi Sinha’s ‘Gulabi 2.0’ from Noor is yet another ordinary remix

The song is the remix of the classic 'Gulabi Aankhen Jo Teri Dekhi' from The Train (1970).

The trend of remixing old Hindi songs in new films refuses to die down. Every other film is using an old classic with a modern twist. The latest to join the bandwagon is Sonakshi Sinha’s Noor, where the iconic ‘Gulabi Aankhen Jo Teri Dekhi’ from The Train (1970) is presented as ‘Gulabi 2.0.’

Barring a few tracks like ‘Tamma Tamma' (used in Badrinath Ki Dulhania), these remixes haven’t been able to make an impact. Unfortunately, ‘Gulabi 2.0’ is also unimpressive.

The song is a typical party/club number that's barely satisfying. The additional lyrics ‘Haal Hua Behaal’ are appealing to some extent, and the techno music is foot-tapping too. But the ‘Gulabi Aankhen’ lines, which are added in between, don’t gel well. Both appear like different tracks. Singers Tulsi Kumar and Amaal Mallik have put in their best, though.

The song is picturised on Sinha who shows some good moves. The song also features Purab Kohli and Kanan Gill, the popular comedian YouTuber. It would be interesting to see what roles they play in the film.

Directed by Sunhil Sippy, Noor releases on 21 April.
