Nandi Awards for 2012, 2013 announced; Rajamouli's Eega bags 8 awards


The Andhra Pradesh government on Wednesday announced the list of winners of its Nandi Awards for the years 2012 and 2013. The awards, which are normally presented every year, were not announced for over five years as the state was being divided into two.

Actors Nani and Samantha have every reason to celebrate as two of their films, Eega and Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu, have picked a number of Nandi Awards for the year 2012.

SS Rajamouli’s Eega (Naan Ee in Tamil), featuring Nani, Samantha and Sudeep in the lead, won eight of the prestigious Nandi Awards for the year 2012, while Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu (Neethane En Pon Vasantham in Tamil) won three awards including awards for Best Actor, which went to Nani, and Best Actress, which went to Samantha.

The Andhra Pradesh government presents these awards to encourage and honour the best of talent in Telugu cinema, theatre and television.

Eega won awards for Best Director, Best Film, Best Music Director, Best VFX, Best Villain, Best Editor, Best Screenplay writer and Best Cinematography. Minugurulu was adjudged the second best film and Mithunam was picked as the third best.

For the year 2013, Mirchi was adjudged the Best Film. Naa Bangaru Thalli was chosen as the Second Best Film and the Third Best Film spot went to Uyyala Jampala. Seethamma Vakatlo Sirimalli Chettu, featuring Venkatesh and Mahesh Babu, won the Best Home Film award, while Pawan Kalyan’s Attharintiki Daredi won the award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
