Baahubali 2 trailer: Prabhas, Daggubati face off in breathtaking SS Rajamouli epic

The much-awaited trailer of SS Rajamouli's epic Baahubali: The Conclusion is out, and it is worth every minute of the wait.

The long wait for the grand finale of SS Rajamouli's epic Baahubali series has finally ended. The trailer for the Prabhas-Rana Daggubati starrer Baahubali: The Conclusion is out, and it is a visual treat packed with action, romance, and intrigue that will satiate the excited audience.

The trailer kicks off from the mysterious climax of the last film with Amarendra Baahubali taking the throne of the kingdom of Maahishmati. While Prabhas's voiceover announces his coronation, the visuals are a stark contrast. Depicting violence, treachery and scheming plots, the voiceover is accompanied with visuals of blood and gore that are in line with the action-packed theme of the film. There is also the shot that rang across the internet in memes, Katappa killing Baahubali. The film promises to finally reveal the tightly guarded secret behind the shocking assassination.

The fleeting glimpse of Baahubali's coronation is followed by the beginning of his romance with the fearless Devasena, played by Anushka Shetty. The actress has claimed that the second part of the film will feature her in a number of action sequences, and the trailer delivers on that promise. As a fighter taking on her enemies, Shetty's part is starkly different to the suffering, sacrificial queen in the first part of the film.

There is no doubt that Rajamouli and his team have pushed the envelope in terms of scale, visual effects and action. If the first film was breathtaking in its splendour and planning, the trailer of the second film promises even better things. The scale and design of Baahubali: The Conclusion is a veritable treat, and matches up to the visuals of the cult American television series, Game Of Thrones. It is the perfect icing on the cake. The height of Rajamouli's imagination and his ability to transform it on screen is his greatest strength, and nowhere is this more evident.

Prabhas and Daggubati fans are sure to go into a frenzy, with both actors dominating the action sequences. Prabhas looks majestic as the king and, later, his son, Shivudu. Daggubati matches up as the menacing hulk Bhallala Deva. The trailer offers some teasing glimpse of the all-out civil war between the two rivals and looks smashing.

Yet, the credit definitely goes to Rajamouli and his visual effects and set designers who have created an imaginary world that looks astoundingly real. The attention to detail throughout the trailer is mesmerising.

Baahubali: The Conclusion is jointly produced by Arka Mediaworks and Dharma Productions. The film is set for a theatrical release on 28 April.
