Ram Gopal Varma apologises for controversial Women’s Day tweet

However, the filmmaker only apologises to those who are 'genuinely offended' and not those who 'ranted for publicity'.

A day after the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) threatened to start a ‘joota maaro andolan’ (shoe-throwing protest) against Ram Gopal Varma, the filmmaker has issued an apology over his controversial tweet on International Women’s Day (8 March). However, this apology has come with a disclaimer.

The Sarkar 3 maker first tweeted this post apologising to all those who felt offended with his Women’s Day tweet.

Interestingly, NCP spokesperson Vidya Chavan had told us that mere apology would not be enough as they sought punishment for Varma.
