Suman entered the spat between Kangana Ranaut and director Karan Johar, suggesting the Rangoon actress should simply keep her mouth shut.

Kangana Ranaut is facing a battle on her hands. Even as she trades barbs with director Karan Johar, after he suggested she should 'leave the industry', the actress is facing an attack from another front. Shekhar Suman has time and again criticised the actress, who was once in a relationship with his son Adhyayan Suman, and did not mince any words.

Speaking to an online media, Shekhar suggested that Ranaut should have the courage to come forward and accept her failure. This was a sly dig at the failure of Ranaut's recent film, Rangoon, at the box office. He said, "She should just keep her mouth shut, and let her work speak for herself. If you are a failure then you should have the dignity to come forward and say I have failed miserably. You don’t always have to shout on the rooftop and say what you have done. The best thing is to just be and keep your mouth shut."

As for Ranaut's playing the 'badass card', the actor had another retort. He said, "I don’t like these weeping women and women who cry to everyone claiming that they were victimised, traumatised, agonised and all that. Otherwise when you are talking about equality, everybody is in the same line. But some women save their cards conveniently. You become a woman and a man according to your convenience. You say that you are the hero of the film and not the heroine. It is quite irritating to see these blubbering women who get all the support in the world from the internet. This is manufactured and fake feminism and beyond a point it is irritating. These women talk about their achievements and struggles, what the hell everyone is an achiever here (sic)."

Shekhar has consistently taken sly digs at Ranaut, without mentioning her name, in his tweets. On the same day as the quote, he tweeted this on his Twitter page.

The whole issue began when Ranaut called director Johar the 'flagbearer of nepotism' during her episode on his show Koffee With Karan. In a reply later, Johar suggested that if the actress felt so hard done by the industry, she should 'leave the industry.' In his quote, Johar said, "I’m done with Kangana playing the woman and victim card. I am done! You cannot be this victim every time and have a sad story to tell about how you’ve been terrorised by the bad world of the industry … leave it."

In reply, anaut hit back at the director in an interview saying that she was not playing the victim card, but the 'badass card'. She said, "What is pertinent here is: why is Karan Johar trying to shame a woman for being a woman? What is this about the ‘woman card’ and the ‘victim card’? This kind of talk is demeaning to all women, particularly the vulnerable because they are the ones who really need to use them."

Shekhar's tweets arrive in the midst of this furore. The actor has been shooting with Sanjay Dutt for Omung Kumar's next, Bhoomi.
