Trapped song: 'Dheemi' is slow, romantic number that leads to a trap

The first song from Vikramaditya Motwane's dark film Trapped is a surprisingly romantic number that is in stark contrast to the film's dark trailer.

Vikramaditya Motwane's Trapped has already set pulses racing with its gripping trailer. Telling the story of a man who is trapped for 25 days in a secluded apartment, the film is a dark, feisty tale of survival. However, the first song from the film is a pleasant change from the story of the film.

Composed by Alokananda Dasgupta and sung by Tejas Menon, 'Dheemi' is a slow, seductive ballad that speaks of the little moments of love. The song also offers a back story to Shaurya (Rajkummar Rao) and his life before he is trapped in the apartment. It also marks the entry of Noorie (Geetanjali Thapa), who is the love of Shaurya's life. The song leads in from the shy first meetings between the characters to their eventual decision to buy a flat together.

Menon's mellow voice, accompanied by the lovely acoustics of the guitar, makes for an addictive song. The song might not make the film any less grim, but it offers a little respite from the desperately dark plot.

Trapped is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and stars Rajkummar Rao and Geetanjali Thapa. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on 17 March.
