Director duo Abbas-Mustan will be recreating Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon’s ‘Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast’ track for their film, Machine, which marks the debut of Abbas' son Mustafa. But the rights of the Mohra song were with a different music company than the one on board for Machine. Normally, one has to pay a large amount to buy the rights of an old hit song.

In an interaction with Cinestaan.com, Abbas-Mustan revealed how much they paid for the rights of ‘Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast’ and how the entire process took place.

Said Mustan, “Our film is by T-Series but the song was with Venus. A lot of people had approached Venus in the past to get the rights of this song but they never agreed. They said the song is too attached to them. We had heard this from the market. But when we approached them, they readily agreed. They were also glad that Mustafa is being launched. We have done seven films with them. Our relations are very good.”

The veteran filmmaker duo was surprised after knowing the amount for the rights of the song. “Those who had approached them before us had offered big amounts. When we asked the remuneration, they asked us to pay Rs101 (laughs). They even mentioned this amount in the agreement,” revealed a pleased Mustan.

Abbas added, “We are so thankful to Ganesh Jain, Ratan Jain and everyone at Venus for the gesture.”
