Why Jagga Jasoos Ranbir is claiming credit and reward for Shah Rukh's 'Jab Harry Met Sejal'

At the song launch of Jagga Jasoos' 'Galti Se Mistake', Kapoor revealed that it was his idea to name Imtiaz Ali's upcoming film 'Jab Harry Met Sejal'.

It looks like Shah Rukh Khan owes Ranbir Kapoor Rs5,000, and the actor will have it. At the launch of the latest song from Anurag Basu's Jagga Jasoos, 'Galti Se Mistake', Kapoor revealed that it was his idea to name Ali's upcoming film with Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma as 'Jab Harry Met Sejal'.

For the last two months, Ali's film only had a working title. It was early on Friday morning that the makers of the film released the first look posters, with the title Jab Harry Met Sejal. Incidentally, Khan had an inkling that Kapoor might claim the title's credits. The star had taken to Twitter after the release of the first look posters writing 'Just in case Ranbir Kapoor ever claims it…the title Jab Harry met Sejal was never ever suggested by him! So he doesn’t win the Rs.5000 reward.'

However, Kapoor has a different story to tell. At the event, he said, "I want to say this in front of everybody. I have given the title Jab Harry Met Sejal. It not a sad thing that Shah Rukh sir isn't giving me credit for it. The sad thing is that I didn't know about the Rs5000 reward."

The Tamasha actor went on to add that he will be making a visit to Khan's Mannat home to collect his reward. He said, "So Shah Rukh sir I am coming to Mannat to collect my Rs5,000 reward. And cash please."

Just in case there were a few doubters in the audience, Kapoor narrated how the title came to be. He said, "I was shooting in Mehboob studio. And Shah Rukh, Anushka were all there. We were sitting in the van and there was a discussion on the title for the film. And I suggested this title. At that time everyone laughed at me. 'Bahut bakwaas hai' they said. And cut to today the poster has released with that title."

Kapoor, who has been a part of the last two Imtiaz Ali films Rockstar (2011) and Tamasha (2013), was also happy that Ali had cast Khan in the film. He said,"It is by far the most exciting actor director duo for me. Seeing Shah Rukh sir and Imtiaz together was my dream as a fan and as an audience. Imtiaz is coming back with Pritam & there's also Anushka in the film. So I am really looking forward to it."

Well, Kapoor certainly looks like he deserves the prize. It remains to be seen if Khan will cough it up.

Ali's Jab Harry Met Sejal is scheduled to be released on 4 August, while Jagga Jasoos is slated for a 14 July release.
