Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee, Anurag Kashyap, Karan Johar return for Ashi Dua’s 2nd anthology project

Produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Ashi Dua, this second anthology instalment, which is not a sequel to Bombay Talkies (2013), will focus on the themes of love and lust. Dua revealed to the daily Mumbai Mirror that all four original filmmakers gave their consent to come back for this project.

Already Zoya Akhtar and Dibakar Banerjee have shot their 30-minute short films earlier this year. Zoya’s film stars Bhumi Pednekar, Neil Bhoopalam and Rasika Duggal and finished filming in March. Manisha Koirala will be headlining Dibakar Banerjee’s short; she was seen filming a sequence at Aksa beach.

“None of the stories are in continuation or a sequel to their respective originals. All of them will be surrounding different equations of love and lust. I can’t say which short I love the most since they’re all my babies. But it is great to enjoy the film in totality — like I Love New York or Paris Je’taime, where you enjoy some moments a lot more but you take home the film as a whole. That’s the idea here as well,” Dua told Mumbai Mirror.

Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap are currently scripting their shorts to be be filmed later this year. The anthology is set to release in theatres by the end of 2017 or early 2018. Bombay Talkies (2013) was screened at the Cannes Film Festival to commemorate and celebrate 100 years of Indian cinema.
