With the exit of actress Shruti Haasan from Sangamithra, the makers seem to have intensified their search for her replacement in the film.

Sources in the industry say that the team is in talks with three actresses and is likely to finalise one among the three as a replacement for Haasan.

If sources are to be believed, the team is in talks with actresses Nayanthara, Anushka and with Hansika Motwani. Sources also suggest that the team is highly likely to finalise the deal with Nayanthara.

It may be recalled that Haasan, who had signed up to play the lead in the huge multilingual project Sangamithra, the first look of which was released in Cannes, all of a sudden quit the project.

While the production house, Thenandal Films, put out a tweet on their official handle, saying, that it was “due to unavoidable circumstances" that they were "unable to proceed working with Shruti Haasan in Sangamithra", Haasan, through her spokesperson, claimed that she had to unfortunately take a call not to be part of Sangamithra.

Directed by Sundar C, Sangamithra has been billed as one of the biggest projects of south India. The story, sources say, will be set in the eighth century and is about a queen's struggles to protect her kingdom.
