One of the more exciting things about the Rajinikanth's upcoming film, apart from Rajinikanth himself, is the promising cast. The film has quite the talented cast of actors with Nana Patekar, Huma Qureshi, Pankaj Tripathi, Samuthirakani being the leading names. Of these Patekar seems to have bagged quite the meaty role.
Reports by Hindustan Times newspaper suggest that the actor will be playing the main antagonist in Pa Ranjith's film. Patekar is said to be cast as a politician who clashes with Rajinikanth's good hearted gangster who stands up for the rights of the poor Tamils in the slums.
Pa Ranjith's film, titled Kaala Karikaalan in Tamil, is set predominantly in Mumbai. Rajinikanth was recently spotted in the Wadala suburbs of the city completing his shooting schedule. The actor has now returned to Chennai to shoot the rest of the portions next week.
The film, produced by Dhanush's Wunderbar Films, will also be simultaneously shot in Hindi, and Telugu. Unlike Rajinikanth's earlier film, Kabali (2016), which was dubbed in Hindi, the actor is expected to have some substantial lines in the language, and so will Patekar.
This will be Patekar's return to the negative role after his turn as Shere Khan in The Jungle Book (2016). The actor was last seen on screen portraying a negative character in Prakash Jha's Apaharan (2005).
Kaala Karikaalan is expected to be ready for theatrical release by January next year.
