Helmed by Airfift (2016) director Raja Krishna Menon, Chef is the remake of Jon Favreau’s 2014 American comedy Chef. Favreau produced, directed and acted in the film. Robert Downey Jr played a cameo in the film. The American film was about chef Carl Casper (Favreau) who is going through a personal and professional crisis. All hell breaks loose when Capser snaps at a food critic for a critical review and loses his job. He then rediscovers a life starting a food truck.
Apart from Khan, Menon’s film stars popular South Indian actress Padmapriya. By shifting its release date, Chef has now avoided competition with Ranbir Kapoor’s Jagga Jasoos and Ekta Kapoor’s Haseena which will be released on 14 July.
