Sushant Singh Rajput is currently gearing up for his next, Raabta. The film, which also stars Kriti Sanon, is a romantic drama with the theme of reincarnation. In his short career so far, the actor has made sure that his films and characters never repeat. It seems the same will be the case with him after Raabta too.

During an interview with senior film critic and host Anupama Chopra, Rajput also revealed that he has already signed five films. Although he didn’t disclose the names of the films, we can take wild guesses from his previous media interactions.

He has Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan’s Chanda Mama Door Ke, Takadum with Homi Adajania and Parineeti Chopra, a film with Karan Johar which also stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Abhishek Kapoor’s Kedarnath and a sports biopic on athlete Murlikant Petkar.

Sushant Singh Rajput: I agree to play a character only if I don’t know how to play it

A noticeable thing about Raabta is that this is the first time that Rajput will be seen as a typical Bollywood hero. It’s a relief for him since this has finally satisfied his father. “He gets fidgety about two things. One, he says, you are doing good work but you should have had a degree. Second thing he says, you are a good actor but you don’t look like a hero,” he said laughingly and added that he finally has a film where he can appear like a hero. “The first character (in Raabta) allowed me to have abs and dance,” he said.

However, he also added that in three of the five films following Raabta, he won’t get a chance to look like a typical hero. He said, “I have signed five films and three of those films won’t allow me to look good.”

When it was pointed out that he won’t be able to post any workout pictures from those three films, he jokingly said, “I have stock pictures of this film (Raabta), which I will use gradually.”

The first trailer of Raabta triggered a debate on whether the film is a rip off of SS Rajamouli’s Magadheera. In fact, the producers of the Telugu film also slapped a legal notice on the makers of Raabta for allegedly lifting the idea of the film. Rajput pointed out that he doesn’t see a similarity in both films.

“I have seen the film Magadheera and I know it’s not the same film,” he said. He also believes that there is bound to be some similarity between stories. “As far as I know there are only 7-8 stories that we can tell. If we start doing this (suing), in Bollywood everybody will sue each other,” he added laughingly.

His co-star in the film, Kriti Sanon, who was also a part of the discussion, added, “I think if we felt that we had done something wrong or if we were sort of trying to copy anything, then probably we would have been kind of worried. But we knew that there is nothing and no truth to it and it’s absolutely fine. If they (makers of Magadheera) will watch the film, they will know.”
