The only reason why Dhulia agreed to do the Anand L Rai's film was because he wanted to see Shah Rukh Khan as a dwarf.

Tigmanshu Dhulia, the director has been gearing up for his next Raag Desh, a period drama that is based on the 1945 Red Fort trials of three Indian soldiers. Dhulia, the actor is thrilled to be part of Shah Rukh Khan's next that will be directed by Anand L Rai. Dhulia will be playing father to Khan in the cameo.
So, what attracted Dhulia to the film?
"Rai had called me to play a small part in this film. I wasn't too bothered about the role. What interested me most was the plot of the film – Shah Rukh Khan playing a dwarf. This is very technical. Years ago, Kamal Haasan had played a dwarf,” said Dhulia at a Raag Desh promotional event last night.
Hassan had played a dwarf in the Tamil film Apoorva Sagodharargal (1989). It was dubbed in Hindi as Appu Raja.
“Back then we didn’t have great technology. I believe Kamal Haasan had tied his legs behind to play that role. Now we have access to technology. I wanted to see how Shah Rukh Khan will look as a dwarf. Such films are always difficult to carry off. Full credit to Shah Rukh Khan and Aanand L Rai. I’ve enjoyed being part of this film," added Dhulia.
Dhulia’s Raag Desh is set to be released on 28 July, while Rai's film with Dhulia and Khan will release in 2018.
