Salman Khan's big Eid release Tubelight has crossed the Rs100 crore mark, but it continues to stare down the barrel. The film bagged a low collection of Rs.4.25 crore on Thursday (29th June) taking its domestic collection to Rs103 crore nett after week one, as reported by BoxOfficeIndia.com

The week one collections of Tubelight pale in comparison to his preceding releases. Khan’s last film Sultan (2016) had bagged an impressive Rs208.99 crore nett after first week.  Before that Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015) had pocketed Rs183.52 crore nett.  Khan’s other film in 2015 Prem Ratan Dhan Payo had bagged Rs157.60 crore nett after first week while Kick (2014) had made Rs155.31 crore nett.

The last time a Salman Khan-starrer struggled to make Rs100 crore was Jai Ho (2014) which fared poorly bagging just Rs83.48 crore nett. As a matter of fact, Jai Ho took weeks to touch the Rs100 crore mark. Jai Ho’s two week buisness stood at just Rs101.50 crore nett.

The worry for Tubelight though is that it’s made at a budget of Rs100 crore that doesn’t include Salman Khan’s fees. Tubelight faces a challenge to reach the Rs150 crore mark. What may work in the film’s favour there is no big release till Ranbir Kapoor’s Jagga Jasoos hits the theatres on  14th July. Tubelight has released across 4400 screens in India.
