Amitabh Bachchan might just be returning to the small screen with the popular quiz show, Kaun Banega Crorepati. Interestingly, all this comes while there were rumours of Ranbir Kapoor or Aiswharya Rai Bachchan hosting the next season. Writing on his blog, Bachchan disclosed that he has been shooting for the show, which is set to return to television in August this year.

Bachchan wrote “The time has come, to give an answer” …’jawab dene ka samay aa gaya hai!!'

The veteran actor then dropped a hint about his role in the show. He wrote, “KBC has gracefully agreed to reappear and in doing so has coerced me into recording the Registration Questions for the contest to be on air by August-September this year.”

A nostalgic Bachchan then added, “KBC...the winner from its beginnings .. to me at least .. to mingle with them that come with ambition and desire .. with hope and will .. with the dream of its true coming .. and of course the ultimate desire of spending those hours at the Hot Seat, with complete strangers .. who by the time it ends become your dearest fiends ..May the fruits of friendships grow .. may the winner be ecstatic .. may he or she be deserving .. and above all, may the wishes of they that come, be delivered in a bounty."

Yesterday the actor even tweeted about pictures of KBC getting a clearance.

The veteran star hosted the first two seasons (2000, 2005) of Kaun Banega Crorepati (on Star Plus) before health issues forced him to take a break. Kaun Banega Crorepati, which is adapted from the international game show, 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?' also had Shah Rukh Khan replacing Bachchan in third season in 2007.

The show returned three years later with Bachchan as its host, on a new network (Sony Entertainment Channel). The veteran actor then hosted the show for five successive seasons before dwindling TRPs (Television Ratings Points) forced Sony to discontinue with it.

The latest season of the show will see it return to the television screen after three years.

The actor will also be seen alongside Aamir Khan in Thugs of Hindostaan, and Rishi Kapoor in 102 Not Out this year.
