'Hawa Hawa' song: Peppy desi beats, Arjun Kapoor's dance make this remake a worthy one

Composers Gourav-Roshin create a successful remake of late Hassan Jahangir's pop song.

It's hard to describe what made late Pakistani pop artiste Hassan Jahangir's 'Hawa Hawa' such a rage. Mubarakan makers have created an apt remake of 'Hawa Hawa', which is a pleasant surprise.

While the core of Jahangir's 'Hawa Hawa' has been retained, lyricist Kumaar has created lyrics of his own. Save for the 'boyfriend banadey, kisi aur ko pataley' line, the lyrics are quite catchy and flow well with the music and visuals.

What clicks for the song is its peppy desi beats and Arjun Kapoor’s carefree freestyle dancing. It’s hard to recollect Kapoor dancing with such gay abandon before.

Kapoor is bustling with energy, despite his plum self. This is a quality audiences associated with Govinda. While it would be unfair to compare the two, Kapoor has delivered his finest dance performance so far. Some of his dance moves will make you get up from your seat and groove. Full marks to choreographers Bosco-Caesar for their lively choreography. It’s not just Kapoor, but also Ileana D’Cruz who shows some fine moves.

While the song is a remake, the music director duo of Gourov-Roshin have created fantastic desi tunes of their own. It’s not just the duo, though, as 'Hawa Hawa' is a total team effort by Dipesh Varma, Keyur Barve and Omkar Salunkhe. Varma deserves credit for the live rhythms and percussions. Gourov-Roshin have brought the whole orchestra to the fore.

Mika Singh proves why he is the best man to sing such dance numbers. Prakriti Kakar has a few lyrics, but compliments Singh perfectly. Singh's voice suits Kapoor who is very efficient in his lip synching.

While Mubarakan has paid a fitting tribute to Jahangir’s 'Hawa Hawa, the Pakistani artiste himself was inspired by Irani artist Kourosh Yaghmaei 'Havar Havar' track.

Mubarakan will be released on 28 July.
