The first trailer of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha highlighted the issue at hand — lack of toilets. Its first song, ‘Hans Mat Pagli,’ centres around its tagline as it’s a romantic number. It has a typical scenario of a boy (rather, a grown man) finding ways to be close to his lady love, played by Bhumi Pednekar.
There is simplicity written all over the audio and visuals of this track. Siddharth-Garima’s words are those commonly used, but appealing nonetheless.
Writers Siddharth-Garima: Reach of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is more important than the box office
The words ‘Has Mat Pagli, Pyar Ho Jayega’ bring back memories of Chamatkar’s (1992) ‘Is Pyaar Se Meri Taraf Na Dekho, Pyar Ho Jayega’ and Ek Musafir Ek Hasina’s (1962) ‘Aap Yun Hi Agar Humse Milte Rahe, Dekhiye Ek Din Pyar Ho Jayega.’ This is where the similarities end.
Sonu Nigam, as expected, has once again shown his range as a singer. He renders the lyrics with a sweet touch. Vickey Prasad’s music adds to the simplicity.
Although Akshay is shown eager to click a picture of the girl without her knowledge, it doesn’t appear indecent by any means. His approach seems quite family-oriented, and not cheap. The instance where he fakes speaking on a cellphone is sweet. The visuals are handled professionally enough so that they don't pass off as encouraging stalking.
Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is all set to be released on 11 August.
