Lipstick Under My Burkha poster not aimed at CBFC: Producer Ekta Kapoor

Lipstick Under My Burkha producer Ekta Kapoor has said that the new poster with a middle finger was not meant to take any digs at the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Kapoor is producing and presenting the film directed by Alankrita Shrivastava.

The poster had irked CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani, who said it was an impolite gesture.

“Not at all, it is a lipstick, I don't know where the middle finger came from. I have no problem with the CBFC, I think they are doing their job. They are under a lot of pressure. If there are any rights, any questions, they are answerable. Lipstick Under My Burkha is a film about a 50-year-old woman’s sexual urges. There are so many films where men are hanging out with a young girl, looking at a young girl, but that is somehow OK. But when a woman thinks the same way, then everyone is shocked," Kapoor told entertainment website Spotboye.com.

While Kapoor has denied that the middle finger poster is aimed at CBFC, a post on the film’s official Twitter appeared to be mocking the CBFC chief for his "too lady-oriented" remark.

The Nihalani-led CBFC had refused to certify the film saying that it was  "too lady-oriented".

“The story is lady-oriented, their fantasy above life. There are contentious sexual scenes, abusive words, audio pornography and a bit sensitive about one particular section of society,” the CBFC has mentioned in its letter dated 25 January 17, to producer Prakash Jha.

The filmmakers also posted this tweet that mocked at CBFC's claims that the film has contentious sex scenes.

Kapoor clearly wants no more trouble from the CBFC, but these tweets won't be amusing to Nihalani and gang.

Earlier this year, the CBFC had outrightly refused to certify Lipstick Under My Burkha. The film was later cleared for release by the Film Certificate Appellate (FCAT). It will hit the theatres on 21 July.
