Actor Aftab Shivdasani will be making his Tamil film debut with director Siddique’s Baskar Oru Rascal where he will be playing an out-and-out villain.

"It is always more layered and challenging for an actor. Although I’ve mostly played positive roles in my career, I’ve enjoyed doing something like this from time to time,” Shivdasani said during an interaction with Cinestaan.com.

The actor had played a negative character early on in his career in Kasoor (2001), co-starring Lisa Ray.

Shivdasani will be sharing screen space with well-known actor Arvind Swamy, who is the hero. The two instantly shared a rapport on the sets. “Arvind and I hit it off right from our first meeting as we kind of knew each other socially from before, but never had an opportunity to work together," Shivdasani said. "He is a really easygoing and intelligent guy apart from being such a talented actor. We share great rapport on the set though we are on opposite sides in the film, and have mutual respect for each other as actors.”

The Mast (1999) actor instantly agreed to do the film after he heard the subject. “I got a call from a casting agent who wanted to speak to me particularly for this role as I fitted the look and character the makers were looking for. I heard the story and thought I’ll give it a go,” he said.

Baskar Oru Rascal is the official remake of the Malayalam movie Bhaskar The Rascal (2015), which had Mammootty in the lead role and co-starred Nayanthara.
