Kaay Re Rascalaa teaser: Priyanka Chopra’s Marathi film is about a seasoned con man

The teaser of Priyanka Chopra’s production Kaay Re Rascalaa is out and going by it, the film promises to be an entertaining con saga infused with humour.

The teaser starts with the protagonist’s dialogue, “In Mumbai there are two ways to earn money. By working smartly or by working hard. And I always like smart things.” Raja is a seasoned con artist, played by Gaurav Ghatnekar. He not only survives by being one, but also derives pleasure from fooling people. He has a love interest played by Bhagyashree Mote, and a young 'smart' friend.

Hindi cinema has subjected Marathi film audience to a number of con films over the decades. So, one would really hope that Kaay Re Rascalaa doesn’t turn out to be another over-the-top comedy, but offers at least some surprise element.

Marathi cinema seems to be opening up to con films finally. Last year, actor Vaibhav Tatvavadi’s Cheater (2016) hit the theatres. Now, it’s time for Kaay Re Rascalaa.

The film is the second Marathi film by Priyanka and her mother Madhu Chopra’s banner, Purple Pebble Pictures after the successful Ventilator (2016).

Kaay Re Rascalaa, which is the directorial debut of cinematographer I Giridharan Swamy, is all set to be released on 14 July.
