The trailer for the R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi-starrer Vikram Vedha is out. The Tamil neo noir film is directed by the duo Pushkar-Gayathri, and marks the first time Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi have come together.
The trailer was launched by Shah Rukh Khan on Twitter, with the actor writing 'To all my Tamil friends here's the dynamic trailer of my friend Maddy's film'

The trailer is stylishly shot, and hits home with its punchline-laced dialogues and thumping background track.
Madhavan plays an obsessive cop in the hunt of the killer Vedha (Vijay Sethupathi). Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Sraddha Srinath play the women in the film while Kathir plays the third lead in the crime thriller. Filled with gunshots, intrigue, and a whole score of dark characters, the film looks to take on a dark, interesting colour.
This will be Madhavan's first Tamil film since the critically acclaimed Irudhi Suttru (2016), and the actor seems to have got the intensity for the role. Yet, it is Vijay Sethupathi's act as the nonchalant, cold-blooded killer that looks more intriguing. The actor matches Madhavan's intensity, garnishing his performance with a bit of dry wit. While it is clear in the trailer that Vijay Sethupathi plays the evil killer, it is not clear if Madhavan is playing the good guy or if it is just a red herring.
The music by Sam CS and PS Vinod's cinematography add another dimension to this neo noir trailer.
Vikram Vedha is produced by Y Not Studios and directed by the husband-wife duo, Pushkar and Gayathri. The film is set to be released on 7 July.
