Arjun Kapoor justifies remaking ‘Hawa Hawa’ song for Mubarakan

It seems the trend of remaking old songs for use in new Hindi films is not going do die out anytime soon. Anees Bazmee’s Mubarakan is the latest film to do this. The film starring Anil and Arjun Kapoor has recreated the iconic ‘Hawa Hawa’ song of Pakistani pop singer Hasan Jahangir. The song gets some footage in the recently released trailer of Mubarakan.

At the trailer launch, Arjun Kapoor justified the remaking of the song. "We have obviously chosen the song according to the situation," the actor said. "It’s a song we have all grown up dancing to; enjoying ourselves. It’s a celebration song. Our film is a celebratory film. The situation is also such that I and Ileana [D'Cruz] are having a tiff but it’s not that kind of tiff that you can’t solve by just being your usual self.”

Arjun is happy with the way the song has turned out. "I think the song turned out really well," he said. "Full credit to Bhushan [Kumar] sir. Mika’s voice is something that gives it a new twist and lifts the song. It adds more energy. It will play out well. It’s looking good in the trailer. I am hopeful that when you watch the full song very soon, [you will love it].”

‘Hawa Hawa’ was also remixed for Hriday Shetty’s Chaalis Chauraasi (2012). It was filmed on the main cast of Atul Kulkarni, Kay Kay Menon, Naseeruddin Shah and Ravi Kishan. 

'Hawa Hawa’ itself is not an original song. It was lifted from the song ‘Havar Havar’ by the Iranian pop artist Kourosh Yaghmaei. The track was released in the early 1970s. You can watch Kourosh Yaghmaei's video here:
