Anees Bazmee’s Mubarakan has Arjun Kapoor playing a double role. Kapoor had played a double role in Aurangzeb (2013), but this time it is a different ball game for him.
In Mubarakan, the duration for which the two avatars of Arjun Kapoor appear together on screen is much longer. At the launch of Mubarakan's trailer today, Kapoor revealed that the two characters, Karan and Charan, will be on screen together for 62 whole minutes.
Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3 (2013) is one film where two versions of the actor were seen together quite a lot. But Arjun Kapoor pointed out another big similarity between Dhoom 3 and Mubarakan.
“The ones who did our VFX are the same people who did the VFX of Dhoom 3," he said. "They are very, very, very good. What you saw Aamir sir do in Dhoom, it [Mubarakan] is on a par with that because we have the people to do that. It’s truly one-of-a-kind double role, where there is no mistaken identity. It’s not like one goes and the other enters.”
The actor also spoke about the challenges he faced. “Apart from Athiya [Shetty], Ileana [D'Cruz] and Anil [Kapoor] chachu, I had another co-star, which was myself. I have spent more time talking to myself. People will feel I am mad if they see the making. I had to perform a scene with all the actors. Then they had to leave and there were tennis balls put as markers. We had a machine that used to show the shots. And I had to re-do the shot from the other performance point of view, but keeping in mind that timing is already set,” he explained.
