The untitled biopic of Sanjay Dutt will now release on 30 March 2018. The film, directed by Rajkumar Hirani, averted a possible Christmas clash with Salman Khan’s Tiger Zinda Hai and has been pushed to next year.

Meanwhile, Fox Star Studios has signed a three-film deal with Hirani and filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra for their next ventures. The collaboration commences with the Dutt biopic, followed by Chopra’s next directorial venture. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted about the deal with Fox Star Studios.

While Hirani is helming the Dutt biopic, Chopra will be directing Dutt in Marco Bhau.

The actor had made the disclosure during his first press interaction when he returned home after serving his time in jail in the Illegal Arms Act case, in connection with the 1993 Mumbai blasts.

Chopra's last directorial venture was the international film Broken Horses (2015).

From the time Dutt was released from the Yerawada jail, there has been constant speculation over if Dutt would return with the third film in the Munna Bhai franchise directed by Hirani. There has also been speculation over a sequel to Hirani’s 3 Idiots (2009).

In January 2016, Aamir Khan had told the media that Hirani was mooting the idea of a sequel to their 2009 hit comedy, but it first needed a solid script.
