Lipstick Under My Burkha poster: Alankrita Shrivastava's film raises the 'finger' in protest

After two whole years of struggling to escape the whip of the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification), Alankrita Shrivastava's Lipstick Under My Burkha is finally ready to be released. The film has found a new backer in its pan-Asia presenter and distributor, Ekta Kapoor.

The latest poster released for the film has every bit of the rebelliousness and punk element that define films from Kapoor's Balaji Motion Pictures production house. The poster features a bright pink hand raising the 'finger'. While it is well known what the finger is against, it acts as a double entendre for a film which deals with women's sexuality.

The poster also features the four women who form the crux of the film's plot. The offending finger symbolised by a lipstick adds a touch of brilliant pun to the very creative poster.

Lipstick Under My Burkha has already won critical acclaim across international film festivals. The film has won Audience Award for Best Film at the Glasgow Film Festival, and recently also won Best Film and Best Actress for Konkona Sensharma at the New York Indian Film Festival.

Shrivastava's film is set to be released on 21 July.
