Saif Ali Khan to Varun Dhawan: Just take off your shirt if you forget a dance step at IIFA

Buzz has it that Dhawan will be dancing to the remakes of 'Oonchi Hai Building' and 'Tan Tana Tan' from the original Judwaa (1997) at the IIFA Awards to be held in New York City in July.

Indian awards are like Bollywood films — long, full of dance performances and witty gags. Shooting for a film allows retakes, but such a luxury is not available to those performing live. Saif Ali Khan is co-hosting the awards ceremony with filmmaker Karan Johar.

So, what happens if a performer forgets his/her steps? At a press conference ahead of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards 2017 to be held in New York City next month, Varun Dhawan posed this query to Khan.

Dhawan is gearing up for his maiden performance at an IIFA event. The actor will be performing to a track from his upcoming film Judwaa 2. When Dhawan asked Khan what one should do if they forget a dance step, the Nawab of Pataudi had just the right answer.

"If you forget your step, you just walk towards the fans, wave to some girls and take off your shirt and throw it in the crowd,” he said, much to the surprise of the media and his co-host Johar.

Buzz has it that Dhawan will be dancing to the remakes of 'Oonchi Hai Building' and 'Tan Tana Tan' from the original Judwaa (1997). Judwaa 2 is a remake of Salman Khan’s Judwaa. Dhawan revealed that more than him, it's his mother who gets nervous when he’s performing on stage.

“My mother really worries when I’m performing on the stage. She fears that I may fall down or hurt myself,” said Dhawan.

Johar chipped in with a cheeky reply, "Varun, I can relate to your mother because that’s exactly what I feel when you dance. You have no sense of control.”

The Judwaa 2 actor said that he surrenders himself to the music. Dhawan felt that Johar was ragging him. The attention turned towards Johar as Dhawan was keen to know whether Johar was going to perform at the IIFA Awards. Unfortunately, for Dhawan, the answer was a strict no.

The 18th IIFA Awards will be held in New York for the first time. The two-day event will take place on 14 and 15 July.
