Court stays arrest of director, producer, storywriter of Swathi Kolai Vazhakku

The Chennai police had filed a case against the crew of the film based on the complaint of the murder victim's father, Santhana Gopalakrishnan.

The Madras high court has stayed the arrest of three members associated with the film on the sensational Swathi murder case, Swathi Kolai Vazhakku.

Director Ramesh Selvam, producer Subbiah and story writer Ravi, all of whom are working on making a film titled Swathi Kulai Vazhakku, filed a plea for anticipatory bail before the high court after Swathi's father Santhana Gopalakrishnan filed a complaint with the director general of police. Gopalakrishnan had sought action against the trio, stating that they were making a film on his daughter's murder and that its release would lead to emotional trauma for the family.

The police, based on Santhana Gopalakrishnan's complaint, filed a case against the director, producer and story writer of the film.

Looking to protect themselves from arrest, the trio applied for anticipatory bail in the high court. The court, while considering their plea, posted the matter for further hearing on 21 June. Until then, the trio are not to be arrested, the court ordered.
