The question over when Rajinikanth will join politics, if at all he does, continues to haunt fans, film buffs and politicians in Tamil Nadu.
The latest rumour that is doing the rounds is that the actor is likely to announce his entry into politics on his birthday, which falls on December 12.
A daily, The Hindu, quoting sources, claimed that the actor would discuss, in a more detailed manner, his future in politics when he meets them in August.
It may be recalled that Rajinikanth is making an effort to meet all his fans on a regular basis now. In fact, after almost 12 years, the actor has got his team to arrange formal meetings with fans from across the state. A statement that he made during one such meeting with his fans is what has led everybody to believe that the actor might take the political plunge.
During a recent speech that he had delivered to fans, he warned fans looking to misuse his name and gain political mileage out of it, saying, “To all those who harbour such intentions, let me make it clear now itself. If I do not come to politics, you will feel cheated. If suppose, there is a situation where I have to come to politics, I will not even permit these kind of people near me. I will not even allow you to enter. So, such people please step aside or you could feel cheated.” The actor had also mysteriously warned his fans to 'get ready for war when it comes to them' at the meet.
The Enthiran (2010) actor has already met a considerable number of fans this year, taking time out to pose for pictures with each of them individually. Now, sources suggest that more such meetings are on the cards.
The actor, who is resting after finishing the first schedule of Kaala Karikalan, a film with director Pa Ranjith, is bound to begin work on the second schedule shortly in Chennai.
Rajinikanth will also be seen in Shankar's 2.0, alongside Akshay Kumar, which will release on 25 January next year.
