After celebrating 20 years of his epic war drama Border, JP Dutta is all set to embark on his next film, Paltan, which is due to be released sometime in 2018. Paltan will go on the floors later this year.

The film’s poster promises to put the ‘Nation first’ and prominently displays the dog tags of different Indian soldiers. The tagline below says, “Brother to my right, brother to my left, together we stand, together we fight.”

Paltan will feature former JP Dutta film regulars, Jackie Shroff and Suniel Shetty, along with Abhishek Bachchan, who made his debut with his Refugee (2000), and Pulkit Samrat.

Both Bachchan and Shetty both confirmed their participate while Arjun Rampal will reportedly play the role of a Lieutenant Colonel from Haryana who won the Maha Vir Chakra.

JP Dutta’s daughter, Nidhi, confirmed his cast addition and wrote, “Yay! Welcome to the PALTAN @rampalarjun so so so happy to have you with us! #paltan

Filmmaker Dutta had told the DNA newspaper, “I’m very glad to be working with Arjun... and as he hails from an Army background from the forces like I do myself... there is a certain connect.”

Rampal’s maternal grandfather retired as a Brigadier and he comes from an army background.
