Historical events provide a great platform to filmmakers to plant a fictional story. Hollywood’s superhero franchises, especially the X-Men series is a leading example.

India is also beginning to flirt with history, creating fictional stories set in the background of a real incident. Vishal Bhardwaj's Rangoon and Anushka Sharma's Phillauri released this year had the backdrop of historical happenings. Director Milan Luthria has chosen the infamous Indian Emergency (1975-1977) to plant Baadshaho.

The makers unveiled a poster which has an explosive tagline.

‘1975 EMERGENCY...96 hours...600km...1 Armored Truck...Millions in Gold & 6 BADASSES. Baadshaho Sandstorm Is Coming!”.

Lead actor Ajay Devgn also tweeted the poster.

The agenda is spelt loud and clear. Baadshaho promises to have high-octane action. As Abbas-Mustan made Players (2012), a poor remake of the Hollywood film The Italian Job. Indian fans who love high-speed chases will hope that Baadshaho doesn’t go the Players way.

The multi-starrer film will have Devgn, Vidyut Jammwal, Emraan Hashmi, Ileana D’Cruz and Esha Gupta. Sunny Leone has a special appearance in the film. Baadshaho was earlier slated to release during Republic Day this year, but the film's release got pushed further. Baadshaho will now be released on 1 September.
