While there were several rumours about CBFC clamping down on the innuendo in the title, the producers have confirmed that the film has received U/A certification.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has become a favourite for the chopping block in recent times. On Monday, the internet ws agog with rumours that the CBFC had asked producers of the upcoming Riteish Deshmukh-Vivek Oberoi comedy, Bank Chor, to re-dub portions where the title has been used. Apparently, the board had taken objection to the spurious sounding title Bank Chor which sounded similar to a Hindi curse word.
A report in the DNA newspaper quoted a source from the CBFC saying, "The makers of the film thought they were being very clever by using a title that sounds like a bad word, and they assumed every time the other actors say ‘Bank Chor’, the audience would roar with laughter."
The report quoted the source as saying, "We have also asked them to redo the title in the trailers — basically, everywhere they have used ‘bank chor’ like the Hindi gaali."
However, Nikhil Taneja, head of development at Y-Films has refuted all such rumours. The producer put up a tweet on his social media page suggesting that the film had already received 'U/A with minor dubs'. Taneja also added that there were no dubs for the title Bank Chor.
Umm.. not true at all. The title appears in the film many times. We've got a U/A with minor dubs but NONE for Bank Chor. Please check na? https://t.co/UHyV132X8x

Incidentally, Bank Chor is produced partly by Y-Films, a subsidiary of Yash Raj Films which produced the Ranveer Singh-Vaani Kapoor starrer, Befikre (2016). The film, directed by Aditya Chopra, was laden with sexual innuendoes and kisses.
Befikre also recieved a U/A certificate from the board. During the release of the trailer, Pahlaj Nihalani was quoted as saying, "As to why the CBFC has chosen to be liberal with the trailer, it’s because Aditya Chopra’s aesthetic sense makes the kissing look natural, and not vulgar at all."
Bank Chor also stars Rhea Chakraborty and Baba Sehgal. The film is set to be released on 16 June.
