It seems there is more trouble for Kangana Ranaut in store. Last month, filmmaker Ketan Mehta slammed a legal notice on the actress for allegedly hijacking his biopic on Lakshmibai, the queen of Jhansi. He has now approached the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai Police to book Kangana for cheating and breach of trust.

According to Mehta, he and his team were in talks with Ranaut for over a year for the film, which was titled Rani Of Jhansi: The Warrior Queen. He has also alleged that the actress even shot some portions of the film but walked out of it abruptly.

Mehta claims to have been shocked when he came to know that Kangana will be doing a biopic on Lakshmibai titled Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi with director Krish of Gabbar Is Back (2014) fame.

Talking to a daily, Mehta said, “We shared various versions of the script and sketch materials with Kangana Ranaut. We were shocked when we came to know that she was making the film with someone else and that’s why we also sent her a legal notice. We have been working on this project for 10 years now and it’s a labour of love. They have hijacked our project and that is not acceptable.”

Last month, Kangana had rubbished the allegations through her lawyer Rizwan Siddiquee, who said, “My client knows she has not committed any moral or legal wrong, therefore such ridiculous and baseless claims or complaints will not deter her in any manner. The facts of the matter and the evidence will reveal the truth.”

In addition to this issue, Kangana is already facing allegations of forcefully taking the writing credits for her upcoming film, Simran. The film’s writer Apurva Asrani made the allegations last month in a Facebook post.
