Yash Raj Films (YRF) is set to launch Aadar Jain and Delhi girl Anya Singh in a film that will be directed by Habib Faisal. While Ranbir introduced his first cousin Aadar, another YRF find Anushka Sharma introduced Anya. The hour-long meet saw Ranbir reveal how he made Aadar act like Aishwarya Rai, while Sharma revealed how actor Ranveer Singh had called Anya 'beta' (child).
Aadar had assisted Karan Johar in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016). Ranbir didn't miss his opportunity to bully his cousin.
"We were shooting in London. I used to call him to my room and make him do the scenes of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma. I thought it would be good for him. He’ll not only learn how to say the dialogues, but he’ll get the expressions too. At times, I made him act like Aishwarya Rai,” said Ranbir.
At a time when nepotism in the industry is debated, Aadar's introduction raised many eyebrows. Before the press interaction commenced, Ranbir said that he didn't understand why everyone in their family ended up being actors. The Ae Dil Hai Muskil actor claimed that Aadar had shown his talent at an early age.
“When he was 3-4 years old, he had become obssessd with me. He kept calling me Ranbir bhaiyya. He had this funny lisp when he said words like 'ginzer', 'bhaiyya'. I bought him his first football shoes. Today he is way better than me. It kind of annoyed me," said Ranbir. Ranbir's father Rishi Kapoor and Aadar's mother Reema Jain are siblings.
“When Aadar grew older, he became a fantastic musician. He could play the drums, he could strum the guitar. He could play the piano and he could sing too. I was quite amazed as this boy was blessed with such talents. He went to the New York Film Academy, did a course in direction, acting. I’d seen some of his stuff, though impressive, I was still sceptical. I thought he didn’t want to join his father’s family business and so he wanted to join movies. He came on board Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, I wanted to shout at him, tell him this is not the way it’s to be done, but fortunately or unfortunately, he was was very diligent with his work. He was good with his suggestions, they were very cinematic,” added Ranbir.
Meanwhile, Sharma and Anya's interaction was kept short. Anya was asked about what she went through the night before the press conference. While she spoke of the usual butterflies in the belly, it was Sharma’s moment of nostalgia that had all in splits.
"I was lucky to have Shah Rukh Khan introduce me. You tend to be comfortable in his presence. However, no one can prepare for this. The one problem that I had is that I speak very fast. So, they advised me to speak gently. The problem with that though is that I speak then I tend to forget. I thought if I don’t speak quickly then people might assume that I can’t communicate well. My mother had told me a few things too, there were others who told me what to say. There was so much information in my head that I feared that I’ll blast on the stage. Thanks to Shah Rukh Khan and you guys for welcoming me, I hope you’ll welcome Anya too," said Sharma.
Meanwhile, Anya revealed how she was always a big admirer of Ranveer. One doesn’t know whether it was planned or pure coincidence that Anya bumped into Ranveer right before the press conference.
“Just before we arrived here, we met Ranveer Singh. He was introduced to Anya but he left us stunned when he call her beta (child). He was quick to say ‘did I just called her beta',” said Sharma.
