JP Dutta’s Border (1997) was Akshaye Khanna’s first box office success. The multi-starrer film was based on India’s 1971 war with Pakistan. The actor played the role of a young soldier named Dharamvir Singh.
The film completed 20 years last month. Dutta had organised a grand celebration for the occasion, which was attended by the team including Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, Abhishek Bachchan, Pooja Bhatt, Javed Akhtar, Anu Malik, Roopkumar Rathod, etc. But Akshaye was no where to be seen.
He has now revealed that it was the demise of his father and veteran actor Vinod Khanna that stopped him from being a part of the event. “It’s life; it’s part and parcel of life. I didn’t want to be part of a celebration as I was in mourning,” said the actor while taking to a daily.
But the incident hasn’t deterred him from his professional commitment of promoting his film, Mom, which has released today.
“This is my work and the differentiation is very clear. Losing a parent is always a terrible thing for anybody. It’s no more or no less for me. The impact it has on a child is tremendous. But getting back to work has nothing to do with it. There needs to be a demarcation between personal and professional lives,” added Akshaye.
Starring Sridevi in the lead, there are expectations from Mom and the film has received rave reviews from the critics.
