There is one thing about Ranveer Singh — he speaks from the heart. The Padmavati actor, who celebrates his 32nd birthday today, was asked whether he would like to follow in the footsteps of other artistes and take up production. Singh was candid enough to admit that he does not have the business acumen for it.

Singh’s contemporaries like Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma and Ranbir Kapoor have taken up production. The actor was asked whether he would want to emulate them? “I don’t rate my business acumen very highly,” Singh told the DNA newspaper. "If I had to [choose], then I would want to be a creative producer. I would definitely be interested in creatively curating a project.”

Singh has worked with Chopra in Gunday (2014) and Bajirao Mastani (2015), while he had made his debut in Band Baaja Baraat (2010) opposite Sharma. While Chopra has ventured into regional films, Sharma has produced a couple of critically acclaimed Hindi films, NH10 (2015) and Phillauri (2017).

The Padmavati actor praised Chopra and Sharma. “Anushka and I more or less started our careers together, so I am very, very proud of what she is doing," he said. "My best wishes are with Ranbir. I admire him for backing a novel story in the way he has, in his first outing as producer, and I am especially appreciative of everything that Priyanka is doing for regional cinema.”

Singh also revealed that he is open to direction, but that is still a long way off. “Have some ideas that I am working on, some stories that I would be excited to tell, but I have got a long way to go, a lot more to learn about the craft and a lot more life experience to accumulate before I would consider myself ready to direct a film.”

Singh is currently working on a couple of projects — Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati and Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy.
