Kaay Re Rascalaa trailer: Meet Gaurav Ghatnekar as the creative conman

The teaser of Priyanka Chopra’s next Marathi production, Kaay Re Rascalaa indicated that the film is a comic con drama. The trailer of the film, which is just released, spells out loud and clear that the adjective ‘madcap’ can also be added to describe it. 

Kaay Re Rascalaa is about a conman, played by Gaurav Ghatnekar, who is desperate to make a quick buck. Hence, he dupes people every now and then to snatch their monies. The trailer is full of whacky humour. 

Ghatnekar also has a partner-in-crime in the form of a kid. The funniest bit in the trailer are the sequences where he addresses random people as mother or father so that his partner can get them to part with their money.

A joke about a zebra is hilarious, but the blatant use of racism for humour is questionable. 

Bhagyashree Mote’s character plays Ghatnekar’s love interest. It will be interesting to know whether she plays an important part or is just ornamental to the main plot.

This is Priyanka and mother Madhu Chopra’s second Marathi film as producers. While the first one Ventilator (2016), which was directed by Rajesh Mapuskar, was a serious drama, it was also treated in a light-hearted manner. 

Directed by debutant I Giridharan Swamy, Kaay Re Rascalaa is set to be released on 14 July.
