Bhikari song: ‘Deva Ho Deva’ a regular Ganesh Chaturthi song featuring Swwapnil Joshi

Ganesh Chaturthi or Ganesh Visarjan songs have always found a place in Hindi cinema, since the black and white days. These days, Marathi films too have started the practice of using songs related to Ganesh festivities. The recent ones to do this are Dagdi Chawl (2015) and Ventilator (2016). 

Swwapnil Joshi-starrer Marathi film Bhikari is the latest one to feature the festival through the song ‘Deva Ho Deva.’

It’s a typical Ganesh festival song with a grand idol of the lord being worshipped by hundreds of devotees. But instead of the main lead Joshi, choreographer Ganesh Acharya, who also the director of the film, gets maximum footage. He has showed his dance moves in a number of Hindi films quite well. He does the same here. Some of his antics appear quite wannabe.

Except his unusual entry dance, Joshi displays his charm. Rucha Inamdar, who is cast opposite him, also makes an appearance and gets noticed. The odd thing about the song is the presence of Aghori Sadhus. We wonder what they are doing in the video. 'Deva Ho Deva' is also quite long at five-and-a-half minutes. 

Coming to the audio, the song is quite average. After being exposed a lot to superhit Hindi tracks like ‘Deva Shree Ganesha’ from Agneepath (2012), this one won’t come across as unique, although Sukhwinder Singh has displayed his vocal skills.

Composer Milind Wankhede has used sounds of dhol, which is normally heard in such genre of songs.
